Lightning-round SE 90/Not! 9 spoilers
The most important spoiler, obviously, is that this month's GanGan included the results of the earth-shatteringly important reader poll titled "Which Soul Eater character would you wish to be a part of your family?"
And somehow or other, Kid won.
Really, fandom? Really? You want to be related to that?!
And now for some less interesting spoilers.
Everybody going on the moon mission is saying their last farewells and writing final letters to their loved ones. THIS IS INSPIRING A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN THE LIKELIHOOD OF ANYBODY SURVIVING THE MISSION. Um.
Liz says that other than Kid or Patty there's nobody that she would want to give her final letter to, and they're both going on the mission. So there's no point in writing a letter.
Black Star says that although he wants to go on the kishin mission for the glory + reputation points, he's going to do the adult thing and go on the Spartoi mission that he was requested to go on instead. Aw Black Star, you've grown up so much.
Spirit is a huge dork and has a big huge dorky dork-dad moment with Maka.
Spirit is going on the mission too. Before he leaves, Big Daddy tells him that Kid's "awakening" is essential if they have any hope of victory over Asura.
Maka realizes that Crona is hiding out in the church where they first met. Proving once again that Maka is the most intelligent character in this manga. (Which I realize is damning with faint praise, but still.)
Medusa is with Crona. Kind of. I don't know. It might very well be Crona hallucinating, à la Stein. Anyway, the point is that I think Ohkubo is supposed to be drawing both parallels and contrasts wrt: the Spirit/Maka relationship and the Medusa/Crona relationship. But maybe I'm giving Ohkubo too much credit.
NOT! SPOILERS:It's mostly about Akane this month. The end. LOL this is the risk of repeating spoilers gleaned from 2ch. Akane isn't even *IN* Not! this month, and the only thing that happens is that Kana does a card reading for Jackie. A+ 2ch troll, would LOL again. SON OF ETA: Or I guess there was a nugget of truth to that after all, since Akane and Clay appear in chapter 90 this month!
PS - As usual, this month's new color illustrations (all six of them!) are all over the GanGan website and at shibusen.

FYI this post got over 400 hits today. It got about 400 hits yesterday and will probably get that same number of hits tomorrow.
I'm saying this for bragging rights or anything, but just kind of as a general "hey, I think you should know" to you and everybody else in this thread who's suddenly bringing all of this TMI into the discussion. Which is the ONE THING that I was trying to prevent with my comments last night. Maybe you're comfortable having all of this out in the open and being read by random strangers coming here for Soul Eater spoilers, I dunno.
But frankly I'm getting extremely uncomfortable with the direction that this thread - specifically, I'm sorry, your comments - are going, and the frustrating mixture of oversharing personal information + spectacular point-missing that's going on in them.
Because shit, just look at this hot mess:
and have never found any theory that suggests that cheating on your wife means cheating on your kids,
No, but when kids find out that daddy has been hurting mommy and continues to engage in behavior that hurts mommy despite his repeated claims that he loves her and will never do it again, the kids have every right to be legitimately fucking pissed at daddy for hurting mommy. And for lying and breaking his promises. Jesus. This is neither rocket science nor a foreign concept in any of the "theories" that you're talking about: When a kid finds out that one parent is doing something bad to the other parent, and the kid asks the cheating parent to stop, then if the cheating parent does not stop, the cheating parent is now betraying that child as well.
to the contrary, it's always suggested that the kids should continue having a relationship with both parents as normal and healthy as possible,
Yes, but a "normal and healthy" relationship is predicated on the parent stopping the behavior that is hurting the child/family. I know of absolutely no (respected) professional in any field who would suggest that children should continue to have a "normal" relationship with a parent who is refusing to change patterns of abusive behavior.
In any case, just to make it clear, I never called Spirit a "good" father, I simply said that I don't think he's "that bad". This is because the only things I know about Spirit is that a) he cheated on his wife, and b) he's very annoying. That's all I know, I don't know if he's done some other bad things that will make me consider him a bad dad, or if he's done good things for his daughter. Being "not guilty" is not the same as being "innocent", I say he's "not bad" because I don't have enough evidence to claim he's either a bad or good parent.
This is the one part of your comment that I think makes perfect sense, and I can totally respect that position.
But can we stop with the over-sharing and the "how I forgave my father" stories and the "well the theories I've researched say..." stuff? Because whether you intend for it to come across this way or not, when you write all those paragraphs that start with "well I USED to think like that" and "but the HEALTHY thing to do would be..." then it does sound like you're condemning both Maka's actions and really anybody who holds that Spirit is a shitty father. Again, whether you intended that to be the message or not.

The reason why I brought up the psychological theories because I was being WAY too subjective and you were right in pointing it out, so I tried to bring something objective to the table. I really didn't mean for it to come across as me judging other people's actions or decisions, and I apologize if it came across that way.
Again, I'm really sorry for making you uncomfortable, I didn't mean for this to turn into an argument, but it did and well, at least I can say I've learned a few things from it.

I just wanted to try and help someone understand from how I saw the situation from my point of view, I didn't mean to get too personal...
