It's good again!

I'm so happy. I was so down on Shakugan no Shana II way back in November, but since about episode 8 or so the series has done a complete turnaround.

Now it's good again.

Really, really good.

Like really really really good.

Mostly because the writers finally remembered that Shana and Yoshida had personalities and started writing them that way. Wilhelmina finally stopped being a bizarro pod-person version of Wilhelmina, too. And Margery finally started kicking ass and taking names like she's supposed to (with the added bonus of actual character development on her part, too).

I don't want to say more because it would be spoiler-y, but yeah. Shakugan no Shana II is REALLY REALLY GOOD now. It's my favorite TV show of the current season. Yes, even better than Minami-ke. And there's very little that's better than Minami-ke.

Shana's development as a character has been very satisfying. I like seeing her as a human being and not just a Flame Haze. I think that fleshing out has made her stronger in many ways.

YES, I love the way that Shana is growing right now. My biggest peeve with the first five or so episodes of this series was the way that they seemed to regress Shana back to the way that she was in the middle of the first season, while ignoring all of the character development that she underwent at the end of the series. But right now I'd say that that's been rectified in spades. The writing of all of the characters right now - but particularly Shana - is just really amazingly good.

Yeah, if I go back and watch one of the episodes again, intending to just watch for a little while, I get seriously sucked in and before I know it I've watched half the episodes again. :D
