Mmm-hmm.

Well, Tsubasa is officially going to be at least 23 volumes long, if not longer.

Yeah, there's that little pacing problem again.

On the other hand, I am both looking forward to and dreading the upcoming OAV series, because it's the Tokyo arc, and it will of course be full of woe and angst and gore. But, on the other hand, it's the part of the story where Sakura finally rises up and kicks some righteous ass. It's like CLAMP finally remembered that Sakura is supposed to be, you know, awesome.

You're so right. MKR should have been longer. Tsubasa should have been shorter.

For the longest time CLAMP was claiming that they could finish up Tsubasa in 20 volumes. And they could have, too, if they hadn't given us a) an entire volume of Tomoyo talking to Sakura about nothing, and b) an entire volume of Fay moping and me wanting to kick him. I understand that all of that stuff is fanservice, in a sense. Not fanservice in the OMG-panty-flash sense, but fanservice in a squeee!-Tomoyo-is-so-cute and squee!-Fay-wants-to-kill-himself-yaya-angst! sense. But still, it's annoying. It makes the fans of certain characters happy, but it just drags out the story for the rest of us.

MKR2's manga just pissed me off. It was, like, no substance whatsoever (and Hikaru annoyed me). I actually like the second season of the anime better just because it had so much more story and character interaction and development. It's like the manga was just there just to base the anime off of something.

Is xxxholic any better than Tsubasa? I stopped reading Tsubasa around vol. 4 just because it bgot hard to follow, but I keep on reading xxxholic in the bookstores, but Del Rey is considerably behind the Japanese releases (which, strangely enough, just doens't bother me as much anymore as some titles used to like Ah! My Goddess). But CLAMP is all about eye-candy filler. Yummmy... candy... but it just seems like they're running out of steam, with several unfinished series like Gohou drug and X.
