Every month. Every fucking month.
As soon as scanslations for the latest SE chapter are available,
repelsteeltju shows up to troll my journal.
Here he is.
And here he is again.
Public post because, again, Creeps likes to play the innocent martyr whenever he's called out on his bullshit. The public record shows otherwise, though.
(Wooooooooooow he actually thinks that I post on 4chan? Although even more telling is the fact that apparently posters on 4chan are calling him out for his entitlement and misogyny, too. 4chan. When freakin' 4chan is calling somebody out on misogyny and fandom entitlement, then you know that it's bad.)
Edited to add: All right flist, you win. Although I am loathe to break my personal no-banning rule that I have upheld in this journal for six years, I can recognize a continued mistake when I'm making it. Congratulations,
repelsteeltju, you are officially the first ever person to be banned from my livejournal.
Consider this an act of mercy. Since you keep showing up here every month to tie your own noose and hang yourself, I figured that I should probably take that rope away from you. As amusing as your stupidity was, this journal will definitely be a better place without you.
And to my flist: You guys are awesome and you will never stop being awesome. Thank you for verbally smacking me upside the head, because I know that I'm a stubborn bitch and sometimes I do need it. ;)

Reeps is a very special type of troll for whom his reputation matters a lot. I've seen the type in comics fandom before. The only way to get them to shut up is to keep pointing out that they're the ones sinking their own reputations.

The past two months when people have replied, however, he's dropped off the face of the fandom for weeks at a time. This is enough to convince me as to what's more effective.

(Anonymous) 2010-07-28 03:16 am (UTC)(link)Uh, slightly embarrassed to ask, but with the talking about people who don't know what it's Not Okay to call someone I'm pulling out of my shell a bit-I've seen you use this word- "ablist," I believe it was- and I was wondering what it meant?
Love the recap, BTW :) Kills me every month to wait for Mangastream to get the chapter up so I can read the recap without spoilers. Not complaining, though-they're totally awesome people and I'm infinitely grateful for the work they put into this.

Why thank you! :D
I've seen you use this word- "ablist," I believe it was- and I was wondering what it meant?
"Ablist" means "discriminatory against people with disabilities." That can take on a lot of forms, but a common everyday example is the language that a lot of us use. "Retard" might not be the most PC term for developmental disabilities out there, but it IS still a term that's used in many legal definitions and also by some advocacy groups - i.e. the Council on Mental Retardation, which is one of the biggest MR advocacy groups here in Kentucky. So in general, it is Not Okay to use "retard" as a catch-all slur against things that you personally find disagreeable, the same way that it is Not Okay to use "gay" as a catch-all slur and for the same reasons.
A good rule of thumb is that it's never okay to use a term that is meant to describe a group of people as an insult against things that are stupid/bad/wrong, because that's the same as equating that entire group of people with being stupid/bad/wrong.
So when somebody is being an asshat, you should call them an asshat. Don't call them "retarded" because they aren't. Retardation is a disability, and it is in no way shape or form the same as "being an asshole on the internet." Not only is it just plain incorrect language to call someone a "retard" when you actually mean that they're being an asshole on the internet, but it's insulting to people with developmental disabilities and discriminatory as well. The same is true for using "gay" or other loaded slurs in place of more accurate terms like "turdwaffle" and "asshat." ;)
Er, I hope this answers your question! (And there's no need to be embarrassed about asking perfectly legit questions.)

Who cares what he thinks? He might be celebrating his victory, he might be crying in his basement, he might be eating mustard and onions, he might be a sparkly vampire.. like... the only thing that matters is you, and this is crap you don't need and you don't deserve :) YOU win, b/c YOU are AWESOME :D

I understand it that it might help to keep patience and kinds of effort to shut the troller, and that it's worth it when it actually works. But the thing is: you never know .when. it stops, and there should be a limit that you must say: this is a waist of time now. If you feel it is worth to keep him trolling for three months to shut him up or make him regret what he said, you must have or exert a lot of patience. It's all why I can't say if it is the best to do to a troll or not :/ ....
But actually, you kind of won(I don't know if you feel victorious about that), because Repelsteeltjuh's aim was to make him look like the poor thing in it, right? But everytime he wanks with -ism, you go pointing there what he's doing obviously not okay. And the result is that Repelsteeltjuh can't come with every wank with you to a forum to show he is a poor guy (ofcourse there could be people to believe him rightaway, but it's kinda pathetic to let people who don't look clearly at the proofs believe him to stroke his (poorguy)pride or reputation...pretty pathetic, and besides, your explanations are really clear)
And the fact that you had your last word with the explaining-method on the wank, and banned him right after that, made you a winner. His whole aim seemed to let him look like the poor guy, and you prevented that.
And it is really nice to let everyone, really, all well-attituding and not okay-attituding on your journal with the hope that the not okay-attituder will change his way of attituding. But if you presume/are convinced that the not-okay-attituder in this case WON'T change, you wouldn't let him walk around in your journal right? then there's no worth in it to you at all. And if the bad-attituder is disturbing the other LJers who read and comment your entries, or even ruin your view on the discussions or entry, you have the big right to ban him anyway, but you noticed that already.
What do you think of it all in the end? Do you feel dissapointed that you couldn't stop him trolling without a permanent punishment?
I hope you understand this English(sorry, with the attitudeword XS ). Anyway, I'm glad for you to have this all behind your back, and may you not be occasionally remembered of this trolling in the future too much to make you feel uncomfortable for a sec ^^

I'm just disappointed that I had to ban a person from my journal, period. Like I said, I've had this journal for six years, and I've attracted plenty of trolls before, but never any troll that was so persistent that I actually had to ban them before. :(
Mreh, people suck.
