Hey, I've been to Hong Kong once. I really wanted to see the dolphins at Marineland... and the dolphin pool was being refurbished! Grrr.
I was born in China, but have never been to the places you mentioned (except Hong Kong).
How's your Cantonese? (Mine's bad - I grew up speaking Mandarin, and actually can't understand Cantonese speakers.)

My Cantonese is.... uh....

Well, I can say "Where is the bathroom?" and I think that's the most important. I mangle the tones, though. I just mangle them.

In Macau they speak Portuguese, so I think I can bumble around easily enough. And in Taiwan English is spoken pretty much everywhere, so I think I'll be okay. Liz and I are only planning on going to one relatively remote location in Taiwan, and we'll be going with an English-speaking tour guide.
