Last week's Tsubasa - Chapter 191, plus Star Wars cartoons.
A week late, but hey, I was on vacation.
Spoilers, go!
Sakura and Syaoran sit down for dinner. They are very cute. They talk about the food, blah blah blah. Syaoran tells Sakura, "My mother was also a dream-seer, just like every major female character in this manga. Also, my mother's name is Sakura. Also, you look exactly like her when she was a child."
Sakura is like, "Then this must beincest hitsuzen! But actually, my name is..." Then she trails off and shakes her head, apparently deciding that it would be a bad idea to tell Syaoran her True Name. So instead she asks, "Can I call you 'Syaoran'?"
"Sure."
NOTE TO CLAMP: Okay, so Sakura's real name isn't "Sakura." We get it. It's been established since the first chapter of xxxHolic that characters aren't supposed to reveal their real names, so none of them do. Kurogane's true name is You-Ou, Fay's true name is Yuui, and Syaoran's true name is... well, it's something, we don't know yet. But we do know from chapter 189 that "Syaoran" isn't his true name. So of course it makes sense that Sakura's true name isn't Sakura, as well. However....
Just because Sakura's name isn't Sakura, that doesn't make this relationship any less incestuous or icky. Seriously. I don't care WHAT her name is, she is clearly still Syaoran's mother, just from an alternative world. Let's review: Fujitaka is her father. Nadeshiko is her mother. Touya is her brother. Biologically, she is Syaoran's mother. She even has all of the same mystical powers as Syaoran's mother, for crying old loud. Just because she has a different name, that doesn't really make her a different person.
Speaking of Touya...
Cue Touya. Touya and Yukito crash Sakura and Syaoran's dinner. Touya is PISSED. He, at least, is actually concerned about the fact that some kid from another universe spontaneously appeared in the middle of Clow Country's sacred ruins and is now making moves on his sister.
Also, Touya and Yukito look like they're twelve years old. Sheesh. Since Sakura and Syaoran look about the same age that they were in Cardcaptor Sakura, I expected Yukito and Touya to look about as old as THEY were in Cardcaptor Sakura, so like high school students, basically. But... Wow. Yeah. They look much, much younger than they should in this chapter of Tsubasa.
Anywhoo.
Blah blah blah Touya yells at Syaoran and Syaoran glares at him. Then somehow Sakura manages to change the subject by introducting Yukito. "In Clow Country, his power is second only to my mother's," she says.
"That's not true," Yukito corrects her. "Sakura-hime's still-dormant power is actually the strongest of all."
Sakura blushes bright red (does she have a crush on Yukito in this universe too?), but humbly disagrees. "But I can't see the future in dreams. I can't do anything. The only small thing I can do is understand the feelings of living things."
Syaoran is all like, "Buhwhat?"
"Like... Trees, and flowers, and stuff. And birds. But the easiest for me to understand are the feelings of water."
Note to Sakura: Fail at biology. Water isn't alive. But whatever.
So Syaoran gets all serious and says, "That's not a 'small thing' at all. To be able to understand the feelings of things that can't speak, that's not a 'small' feat at all. That's amazing."
Oh man, now Sakura's blushing the same way she was blushing when Yukito complimented her. Uh-oh. Bad sign. Touya makes a pissy face.
Scene change!
Sakura and Syaoran are outdoors, apparently. Sakura is making a crown of flowers to give to Syaoran. This could not be more cliche. Sakura asks Syaoran, "How long can you stay in this country?"
Flashback! Syaoran recalls Yuuko telling him, "You may only say within Clow Country for seven days. When seven days have passed, you will be returned to your original world, for the time being. After that, you must decide what to do."
So Syaoran answers her, "Seven days."
"And when seven days are over, will you go home?"
"I don't know."
"Well, your mother and father must be waiting for you anyway... Oh, I know! During these seven days, do you have a place to stay?!"
"No."
"Then can you stay here with me?!"
Oh geez, Sakura, what do you think his answer is going to be?
Syaoran agrees, of course. Sakura is overjoyed. "YAAAY! Well I'm still undergoing purification so I won't see you all the time but every night when I come back to the castle we can hang out and I can't take you into the city but we can still be together inside of the castle and--" She drops the crown of flowers on Syaoran's head. "I still can't touch you, but at least I can do something like this instead."
Syaoran looks up at her. "Thank you." They make oogly eyes at each other and blush.
Ew.
Scene change! Inside the ruins, in the middle of the night... something is stirring in the water!
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
Aaaaaand that's it for chapter 191. In tiny text at the bottom of the last page, CLAMP announces that they're taking a five-week hiatus for "research" purposes. I'm sure that "research" is probably code for "desperately concocting some sort of plan to write ourselves out of all of these irreconcilable plot holes." But! Come volume 31 of Shounen Ace, there will be a super-sized chapter complete with color illustrations! Hooray!
Okay, now for something completely unrelated: This looks really awesome. American gag doujinshi! Who knew?
