A HA HA HA HA HA HA.

So! Argentina has its first woman president today. That's pretty awesome!

But you know what's even more awesome? This tidbit, which I found via the comments in The Unapologetic Mexican's post about Presidente Cristina.

Seriously, awesome.

Um... Okay, I'm being terribly cheeky now, but I'm asking permission first so it's almost okay.

Um. Basically the thing is that it appears that I'm going to Japan this spring and I'm looking for any possible tips on touristy things, especially in terms of finding cost-efficiency and accommodation. And cost-efficient accommodation...

So basically I would be awfully grateful if you pointed me towards some useful websites (if you know any) or allowed me to email you with a couple of specific questions. *hides*

That's not cheeky at all. I'm actually doing the same thing to someone else on this flist regarding another country that I might be visiting over winter break (*cough*).

You can email me with any questions, I don't mind. I love to show off my l33t Japan knowledge, anyway. ;) As for accomodations... I'll have to get back to you on that. I'm embarassed to admit that most of my traveling so far has been with (loaded) family members or (loaded) co-workers, so we've been staying in posh hotels. Or I've arragned things so that I don't have to stay anywhere overnight (taking night buses and such). I CAN tell you that three years ago I stayed in an *amazing* and cheap hostel in Tokyo, called Homeikan. The only downside to that place is that it's located right across the street from Tokyo University, and thus is ridiculously far away from the rest of the tourist attractions in Tokyo. But if you don't mind a couple of long train commutes, it's still a great deal.

Thanks very much! I've been running around like a headless chicken all this week, but next week I'll try to come up with a list of sensible questions to pester you with.

Obviously, I'm more than happy to return the favour if you ever decide to come to UK or Latvia (v.v.unlikely, but still...)
