Frivolous AND non-frivolous linkspam

The Frivolous

Via [livejournal.com profile] tricianna: Harry Potter recipes. Yum.

Via [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology: Professional authors present alternative Harry Potter endings.

Via fandom_lounge: Play-by-play spoilers for the entirety of Deathly Hollows. For those of you who want spoilers but don't want to squint through the leaked copy of the book. Even for those of you who a) don't want to read the leaked copy or b) intend to wait until Saturday, I still recomment this link for after-Saturday viewing. Why? Because [livejournal.com profile] theanapirate is flippin' hilarious and her play-by-play of Deathly Hollows is EPIC. EPIC, I tell you. (Note: This post is flocked to the [livejournal.com profile] spoil_me_dh community, so you'll have to join to view it.)

The Non-Frivolous

A 'Pimp Your Favorite CoC' meme for International Blog Against Racism Week. Announced early to give people time to prepare. Now I finally have that motivation to write a post about Devi's Tara that I've had sitting on my computer for, like, forever.

Take Action for the Jena Six. Seriously, you guys. It only takes a minute.

After reading that.

The first incident- if it's what I think it is, which is the black students got arrested for theft after the white student stole the gun- is ridiculous, a clear civil rights violation, and wrong.

The second incident- they got convicted of what they did. I'd argue for some leniency in sentencing, but that won't happen in American culture. Thanks to Willie Horton, mercy is viewed as weakness in the US. They did do a crime, even if they had mitigating circumstances (I view beating someone up for being a racist ass a mitigating factor) The jury might have thought somewhat that way- they must have been acquitted on the murder charges. These kids are probably going to get the book thrown at them, for a crime of passion. They deserve jail time, but not 10-22 years.

I'm desperately trying to not read any spoilers or any alternate endings that will ruin me for Deathly Hollows. Of course, what with LiveJournal being what it is, that's making me feel like Yuddhisthira confronted with a dice game and a stakable kingdom. Ah well... I ordered my copy off of Amazon.com, with guaranteed July 21 delivery, so I'm desperately waiting for Saturday to roll around.
