My Little Pony FiM Mega Music Post

I think that Friendship is Magic fandom is getting darn close to surpassing Homestuck in terms of being the fandom with the greatest amount of amazing fan music being produced right now. And since Equestria Daily is right in the middle of its first Remix War, which in turn inspired me to finally go through and organize all of the MLP music that I have sitting on my hard drive, I figured that it was about time to do a pimpin'-n-sharin' music post.

~ Friendship is Magic Mega Music Post ~

Part the First: Official Music

Highest Quality Unofficial Season 1 Soundtrack
All of the FiM season one songs in their original versions. (Hasbro says that because of legal shenanigans an official soundtrack is unlikely to ever be released, so we'll have to make do with this for now.)

Part the Second: Favorite Remixed Songs

Super Ponybeat's Bandcamp Page
Start here for eurobeat dance remixes. Then go to Youtube and find the same tracks with the original vocals added back in, like so.

My Little Vocaloid Mashup Album
Seventeen tracks of hard-rocking (and occassionally gorgeous) MLP songs mashed up with Vocaloid instrumentals.

Nena's Favorite FiM Remix Selection Part 1 of 3
Art of the Dress, At the Gala, Cupcakes, Cutie Mark Crusaders, Evil Enchantress. Including a Decatalk version of "Cupcakes" in case you ever wondered what it would sound like if Steven Hawking sang a My Little Pony song.

Nena's Favorite FiM Remix Selection Part 2 of 3
Giggle at the Ghostie, Hush Now Quiet Now, various medleys, My Very Best Friends, Parasprite Polka. I know that "Giggle at the Ghostie" remixes are a dime a dozen, but trust me, some of these are really good. I have limited space on my hard drive so I'm fairly picky about what I choose to download and keep. Having said that however, yes, I do have no less than seven different "Giggle at the Ghostie" remixes included in this set. Out of about two billion and three currently available on the interbutts.

Nena's Favorite FiM Remix Selection Part 3 of 3
Pinki's Gala Jam, Winter Wrap Up. I'm particularly fond of Not A Clever Pony's eerie, otherwordly remix of "Winter Wrap Up."

Part the Third: FAN MUSIC IS MAGIC.

Not a Clever Pony's Princess Luna: As Imagined EP
Not a Clever Pony makes amazing, movie soundtrack-worthy original music and here are five of his best tracks in one place.

z0rg's Of Lyres and Chocolate
A lovely orchestral fan symphony in six acts, inspired by fandom's OTP Lyra and BonBon.

Silva Hound's Drinks on Da House
An entire album of fan music inspired by pony-themed alcoholic beverages? Yes. This is a thing and it exists. Most of these tracks sample epic 80's music but "Pinkie Pie" (with its awesome remixing of "Invisible Touch") is my absolute favorite.

VoodooPony's Bandcamp Page
Gorgeous, somewhat more relaxed-sounding music inspired by FiM episodes. So far two full albums and counting.

Nena's Favorite FiM Fan Music Compilation
Highlights include: Some utterly amazing fan music by Makkon06 and Not A Clever Pony (seriously, how are these guys not professional composers?), Eurobeat Brony's "Luna" (sooooooo awesome!), Starlight's beautiful "My Little Eurodancer Pony," and a pair of completely terrifying fan songs based on an infamous pony snuff fic. No seriously.

I'm still bummed Hasbro didn't have to foresight to properly license the songs for a soundtrack release. Sob. ;w;

I bummed about that too, but I don't blame them for that. I don't think that anybody working at Hasbro could have expected that the fandom would explode where there would even be a demand for a soundtrack in the first place. I think it's virtually unheard of for a children's television show to release an official soundtrack, outside of notable exceptions like Sesame Street.

I'm just happy that Hasbro is responding to the fandom enough to release Luna toys and "Equestria Girls." And also by letting us get away with all of the unofficial soundtracks and Youtube song uploads and remixes and such. They've just been incredibly cool about all of the fan-to-fan media sharing so far.

IKR?!?!

And I thought that I had used up all of my toys-that-I-want karmic good luck when they released Cheerilee. But now we've got TWO official Luna toys and they look really awesome.

Will there be one aside from the Celestia combo-pack? :U

There are two combo packs. One has Luna+Celestia in the regular toy size and the other has them both in the larger "Stylin' Pony" size.

Ohhh, thanks! You wouldn't happen to have links, would you? I can't remember which one I've seen...
