People who have that as their time off? In the military, I occasionally had beer parties at 8am.

There's a difference between 8 am and 3 am, though.

Also, my "backyard" is in the center of a crowded apartment complex.

And I don't know about beer parties, but - this being a barbecue and all - it wasn't just the noise that woke me up, but the damn smell of it. Believe it or not, overcooked pork is not the most pleasant smell to wake up to in the middle of the night.
