I don't even know why CLAMP had to get rid of the extra S&S, you know? The clones could have ridden off into the sunset (read: further dimension-hopping adventures) with Kurogane/Fay/Mokona, while the real S&S stayed behind in Clow Country. That would have given the first S&S their happy ending, and would have kept the "family" of Kurogane/Fay/Sakura/Syaoran/Mokona intact.

I really don't know why CLAMP didn't just go for the happy ending. Maybe they were trying to be more "sophisticated" by throwing a last-minute tragedy in there? Maybe they felt that a happy ending would have been too cliche and too "easy"? Maybe they're just shit storytellers?

Maybe they're just shit storytellers.
