Vimanika Comics

For those of you who have been starved by the recent lack of awesomecore Indian comics available in the United States...

Check this action out.

Through one of those "lol, internet!" coincidences, I got in touch with one of the professors who is contributing research to The Sixth, which is a seriously epic-looking series about Karna. And the first sixteen pages of it are already posted online in their digital comics section. Also, there is Moksha, a series in which, based on the preview artwork posted on their website, it looks like apparently Hanuman pwns an entire pack of werewolves with his bare hands.

Also, the artwork is preeeeeeetty.

Hanuman is epic awesome all the time.
But this is beyond fantastic.
*_*
(I wish there were comics like these in Russia! :< But oh no, even the X-men started about 6-7 years ago.)

I found the first comic of The Sixth when I was in Hyderabad last time, and I've been dying to figure out where to order more.

I think this is the blue boy's way of telling me that yes, I'm allowed to enjoy ogling hot men during med school. =D

So guess who ordered the trade paperbacks for both Dashavatar and The Sixth?

=D =D =D =D =D

I should be getting Dashavatar in a few days, and apparently The Sixth has been delayed for a while, so it's coming out in a month.

ZOMG there's a trade now?!

I have one of the individual issues of The Sixth and it is very, very good. I haven't yet had time to write a proper review of it, though.

Oh yes, there is DEFINITELY a trade.

And the bad guy is somehow connected to the Kurus! I can't wait for creepy-modern-Duryodhana-in-Versace-shades!

(Because, let's face it, that would be kind of hot... in a broody very-bad-relationship-choice Jonathan-Rhys-Meyers sort of way)

Spoiler: The bad guy is actually Shakuni. Duryodhana is in the comic too, but as a poor and humble man. A gajillion reincarnations will probably do that to a guy. Although, in the issue that I have, Shakuni basically declares his intention to turn Duryodhana to the dark side, so we'll see.

Argh. Here I was, thinking that a gajillion reincarnations would finally teach D how to be a proper villain. *sigh* Men.

I'm intrigued by this Shakuni though. Then again, I think he's always intrigued me a bit. He seems like the dark version of Krishna, but without the otherworldliness.
