Last week's Tsubasa: Chapter 209
Alas, I have been remiss in posting Tsubasa recaps! Which is a shame, because I actually liked this chapter. How often does that happen?
LAST WEEK ON TSUBASA: Cloney "killed" Syaoran, smashed up the ruins, KO'd Fay and Kurogane, and then started dragging Syaoran's "corpse" toward FWR.
THIS WEEK! FWR looms menacingly and gloats. He says that he plans to kill the real Syaoran, then destroy the clone's body but transfer its soul into R!Syaoran's body, so that Cloney can continue to serve him using Syaoran's body which apparently is super special awesome because of Clow Reed's genes, or whatever. Which makes no sense because because Cloney is a clone of Syaoran, so if there's anything that's special about Syaoran's body, then the same should be true for Cloney's body, but... whatever. Whatever, CLAMP. Just, whatever.
Then FWR starts to rip apart the space-time hole that's trapping him, and starts to step into (what's left of) Clow Country. Wow. Why, exactly, couldn't he have done that earlier? CLAMP, you have some serious explaining to do.
Actually, at this point, I was kind of expecting FWR himself to put back on his Captain Exposition hat, and launch into a five-page explanation about why he had suddenly gained the ability to cross into another dimension. But poor FWR never gets the chance to do so, because before he can even fully step through his space-time hole-a-ma-bob, there's suddenly a sword sticking out of his chest.
FWR looks somewhat surprised at this unexpected new development.
Yup, it turns out that Syaoran was, indeed, playing dead. He was playing dead until Cloney could drag him close enough to FWR for Syaoran to suddenly thrust his arm out and stab FWR in the chest.
FWR looks at Cloney, who only stares back at him dispassionately. "You decieved me...?! You, a mere puppet?!" He looks at Syaoran, who is staring up at him with rage-fueled murder in his eyes. Then FWR finally gets the so that's how it's going to be, huh? look on his face. Then he whips out HIS giant sword.
The giant sword that he murdered Kurogane's mother and Xing Huo with. That giant sword. Remember?
FWR, apparently completely unencumbered by the gaping wound in his chest, swings his sword down toward Syaoran, aiming for a killing blow. But Cloney saves the day by smoothly intercepting the sword... with his chest.
Oops.
And yet another Tsubasa character dies by being beautifully impaled through the chest. Because that is the only way that any character ever dies in this series, ever. Nobody is ever shot. Nobody is ever beheaded. Nobody is ever eviscerated. The only way that any main character is ever allowed to die, ever, is by being spiked through the chest.
Go on, I dare you to count the deaths - Shura, Ashura, Sakura three times over, Xing Huo, Kurogane's mother, the real Fay... Oh wait, I stand corrected. The real Fay died by being hurled from the top of a tower. Hooray for breaking the trend, Fay!
Anyway, Cloney is toast, but as he writhes around and dies slowly from being impaled on FWR's sword, he starts casting one last magic spell...
...Aaaaaand the chapter ends.
Next week: MORE DEATH! I'm sure that Cloney will pull a La Traviata and take at least one more, if not two or three more, chapters to completely die.

Looks like Cloney's spell is tearing FWR's McRip open... I wonder whyyyy? The other side looks all nebulous and shiny. Scanlation text says "The world begins to crumble." Perhaps the mockery/repeat Clow Country is going to disappear? Or be fixed? Or be replaced by wherever the hell FWR is from? Or... who knows where the hell CLAMP is going with this. It's set up so that just about anything could happen. I would almost, almost not be surprised if they had Sakura and Syaoran (the elder) come deus ex machina out of wherever the hell they're "waiting for their kid(s)". It seems insanely unlikely, but I'm not sure CLAMP is writing with a full deck these days. Therefore, anything can happen. Summon Bahamut, wield the Elder Wand, change dresspheres, go all medieval with a Soul Resonance, roll a D20 for fight stats, and don't forget to throw flowers, brandish your sword, and "call out the name of [your] princess!" Whatever happens, I'm prepared to accept the next chapter with a semi-credulous, "Sure! Of course! Why not?!" 8D
...I need a "trainwreck" icon. OTL

Okay, I'll just come out and say that any chapter in which CCS Syaoran and Sakura appear and actually DO something with their faces showing, dammit, will just automatically win. Because they are win. Period. *uses Christmas icon because it has CCS OTP*
I'd say three-- no, four things are keeping me reading Tsubasa:
1. WTF is "Syaoran"'s name?
2. Pleeease show some CCS parent love!
3. "How the hell will CLAMP resolve this?" aka Trainwreck Syndrome
4. Your recaps. I see so much lulziness because of your recaps. I don't know what I'll do for my quota of snide commentary once TRC ends.

BUT YES. SATISFYING CHAPTER. I want to see how this all ends. xD

I can totally imagine it happening now: Mifune kills Black Star in the next chapter, but that's okay because he comes back to life as a sparkly vampire; Kid discovers that Patti is actually his mother from an alternative timeline; then time loops back on itself and Maka reverts to being seven years old again, but that does in no way shape or form deter a now-twice-her-age Soul from attempting to make out with her anyway. Finally, the resulting time paradox spawns three additional Maka clones, all of whom them proceed to stand around helplessly for 150+ chapters, then die tragically one by one, giving Soul plenty of opportunities to make melodramatic "NOOOOOOOOOO!" angstfits.
