Attention: World
Tarō Asō is a racist, sexist, anti-Semitic ultra-nationalist xenophobic fuckwit.
If I see one more blog or livejournal post about how AWESOME it is that Asō is slated to become Japan's next Prime Minister, I am going to scream.
And no, I am not surprised that the Akibakei and pretty much all of Japan's otaku culture support Asō in droves. We're talking about a demographic group that tends to be either a) extremely ill-informed about politics or b) also leaning toward being enormously racist, sexist, ultra-nationalistic xenophobic fuckwits. All you have to do is spend more than a minute surfing 2ch to see the sad, sad truth of that.
Wealthy housebound nerds harbor sheltered, ignorant views about how the real world works? Color me shocked!
I'm waiting for the inevitable television special where some intrepid reporter from NHK ventures out into the streets of Akihabara, rounds up a bunch of otaku sporting pro-Asō paraphanelia, and asks them if any of them have any clue what sort of actual policies Asō supports. I'd bet money that most of them don't know anything about Asō beyond the fact that he likes manga a lot. Hell, a cursory glance at some of the Japanese blogs on my feed are showing me exactly that right now.
Oh well. At the very least, we should all take comfort in the fact that Asō probably won't last long as the Prime Minister. Lately, nobody has. Especially nobody that supports abolishing Article 9 and re-militarizing Japan. TPTB in Japan have rallied that cause for a long time, but (at least for now) the voters will still have none of it.
Okay, enough about stupid Japanese politics. Here is a brilliant NSFW comic with what is quite possibly the greatest editorial caption every written:
I’ve never understood how a wonderfully muscular, resilient organ could be a euphemism for weakness, while having delicate, dangly bits indicated strength. Subconscious sexism much?

I am sorry, but the straw just broke the camel's back.
For the record, we most certainly do not.
Many Americans believe that the American media is doing Obama's bidding, so it doesn't matter where it comes from. The level of distrust of the MSM in the US would alarm you.
Oh, for the love of fuck. Stop that.
Stop using terms like "most Americans" and "many Americans" when you're really only speaking about "people that Jeffkun knows." You are not fucking Captain America, you do not speak for all of America, and you most certainly have no right to get off phrasing your comments as if I, everyone I know, and Democrats in general are somehow ignorant of how "most Americans" think and how we need the Great and Mighty Insightful Jeffkun to give us the lowdown.
That's a trend that's been running through all of your comments here, and in the previous post when you butted heads against
Newsflash: "Dem supporters" are HALF OF FUCKING AMERICA. Democrats include the wealthy, the middle class, the working class, white people, black people, Hispanic people, Christians, conservative religious Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, pagans, feminists, gay rights activists, education reformers, health care reformers, people who have had a college education and people who have not, and a lot more, from among people who live in all fifty states. Do you think that this huge group of people "just don't understand" the controversies around gay rights, reproductive rights, and teaching science in schools that the "culture wars" involve? Most of them are fighting on the fucking front lines and have been for the past ten years. How fucking presumptive of you.
Do you think that this huge group of people is out-of-touch with working class values? Most of them are working class.
Do you think that this huge group of people distrusts the media to the point where they think that Obama is some sort of evil puppetmaster directly feeding the MSM false information in a slimy attempt to discredit poor innocent Sara Palin? No? Then why aren't you counting this huge group of people when you throw around phrases like "most Americans" as if you somehow get to magically speak for all of them?
You waltz in here complaining about clueless, elitist Democrats and then proceed to assert, over and over, that "most Americans" actually think X Y and Z, while conveniently excluding huge swaths of people from what you personally count as "most Americans." You phrase all of your comments as if you're informing me of things that I, as a college-educated and obviously clueless elitist Democrat, would be unaware of ("would alarm you," etc.) Newsflash the second: I grew up in a conservative part of Iowa, many branches of my family are working-class and/or Republicans, I also lived for many years in an extremely diverse working-class area in St. Paul and then Minneapolis, I've met and love and worked beside a lot of people, both Democrat and Republican and independent in my short life so far. Through my current job I've met hundreds of expat Americans, from every corner of the country, both Democrat and Republican. Nothing that you've said in any comments on either of these posts is news to me. The only thing new is your assertions that the attitudes/beliefs that you're breathlessly informing me of are more widespread than I know that they actually are.
Tunnel vision. It's doing you no favors here.
Please, for the love of God, please stop talking about "most Americans" when you really only mean "some people that I know."
Here, now I'll make my own sweeping overgeneralization: Most Americans, whether Democrat or Republican or whatever, are not nearly as dumb or as paranoid as you make them out to be.
