Tokyo Revelations and Fate/Unlimited Codes
Yay, Tokyo Revelations today!
Impressions:
1. Most. Boring. Opening. Sequence. Ever. Seriously. It's 1:30 of "magical" patterns spinning over a plain black background. Not a single shot of any of the characters. Not even a single shot of any of the locations in the series! Just... crap.
2. Other than the opening sequence, though, the animation was friggin' amazing. It was every bit as detailed and fluid as the "movie," and a thousand times better than Bee Train's efforts in the TV show. But then again, that's par for the course for Production I.G.
3. Fortunately or unfortunately, the first episode followed the manga exactly, reproducing every panel and every word balloon faithfully. This is a good thing if you were looking forward to seeing some of the fight scenes in the manga rendered in the anime. This is a bad thing if you (like me) found the entire first half of the Tokyo arc to be boring as sin, and were hoping for the animated adaptation to change/improve some of the pacing problems. Ah well.
4. The artwork for the DVD slipcase is... okay. It's a nice illustration, but I don't understand why it's rendered the hybrid CLAMP-in-Wonderland style, rather than the usual Tsubasa illustration style. And, Sakura? I think that outfit looks totally badass on you - in fact, it's one of my favorite outfits in the series - but I still can't get over the fact that it makes no sense for you to be leaving your legs bare instead of protecting them from the HORRIBLE FLESH-EATING ACID RAIN that's falling all over Tokyo.
5. In the next episode, somebody gets Sylar-ed. YAY.
And now, awesome news for the day: Capcom is finally making a proper Fate/Stay Night 3D fighting game. I say "proper" 3D fighter because I can't quite bring myself to count Fate/Tiger Colosseum as a "proper" fighting game. It's fun to have chibi characters whaling on each other, but I'd rather have the real thing, you know? Now I that I can finally have a properly-rendered Hercules and Gilgamesh whaling on each other, my life is complete.
No, wait. Not quite complete. Somebody still needs to make a Mahabharata fighter.

Here's a picture of the top of one of my bookshelves.

Er, do you mind if I ask you - what set is the Caster in street clothes a part of? I found her (sans packaging) in a bargain bin at a toy store recently, but I'd like to identify what set she's supposed to be a part of.
