hehe~~ here comes the love plot.

BUT I'M SO CONFUSED NOW. can't read japanese, but all i saw was that Tsugumi woke up with Meme in her bed and was totally not-phased by it (confirmed my belief she was homosexual and had a thing for Meme) and then at the end, when Akane asked her to be his weapon and took her hand, she was madly blushing with hearts all around her (hinting that Tsugumi is actually heterosexual and there's about to be some romance between her and Akane)

alright, so she's bisexual. that's cool and everything.

but i just don't know which way Ohkubo is meaning to take this. maybe he'll go both ways, and there'll be a LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN TSUGUMI, MEME AND AKANE. (O o O)

and then Anya will just be there on the side…..

Nothing confusing about it. :) I think it should be obvious at this point that Tsugumi's bisexual. And it's not like she's not attracted to Anya, either - remember back in chapter 3 when she was gushing about Anya's legs and then blushed so hard when she saw Anya in her waitress uniform that she had to sit down and ask for a glass of water? This on top of the fact that Tsugumi has been fantasizing about being fought over by boys since the beginning. So yeah, pretty obviously bi.

Ohkubo is "meaning to take this" whichever way can maximize fanservice. So of course his heroine is going to be in a love quadrangle with two other girls and a hot guy. ;)~

I am so happy that the third Gorgon sister is being addressed! Though I always thought that she's appear in the regular series. XD

And Akane is related to the star clan? I wonder what kind of role that will play later in the story.

The Akane/Tsugumi team up is interesting, but I dunno if it will last, and as for romance, so far I don't get the vibe that it will go anywhere with them. Ah well, it is to early to tell, but I like sharing my subjective feelings about stuff like that. If I turn out to be right later, I have a reason to brag. XD

yeah, i mean, in real life, i'd be bluntly obvious to anyone that tsugumi is bi. i've just never come across any mangas with a major bisexual character. plenty of yaoi and yuri mangas (and otherwise), but none where the main character is bi. so, you know what? thank you ohkubo! it's about time that a mangaka believed that bisexuals exist and arent's simply 'confused about their sexuality' T_____T

This is a turn I was NOT expecting Not to take. I'm majorly surprised the third sister is appearing in this sub-series, and I hope Okubo really goes to town on her personality. Medusa and Arachne are/were awesome bad guys imo, some of the best I've seen in manga. That said, not even sure if Akane is a good/bad guy yet. Have to wait and see.

The thing I'm most intrigued about, however, is the mention of the Star Clan again. I thought Okubo kind of side-stepped the details involving Black*Star's heritage, which was fair enough because it only really needed a brief mention to aid his character development. BUT... I was still fascinated by White Star and disappointed when the subject was skimmed (and now it seems like SE will never touch the Star Clan again, as Black*Star has developed past the demon point, imo). I assumed it was because the idea of it seemed to Naruto-ish. At any rate, big thumbs up if it gets looked into, though if Black*Star doesn't get involved (and I'm guessing he wont considering this is Not) it'll seem a little strange. Can't win 'em all, I guess.

Anyway, I just got nominated for the Biggest Rambler award, so I'll stop now! Looking forward to the full recap though! Thanks again!

Arrrgh, this manga...I've gone from shipping Anya/Tsugumi/Maka/Meme to Anya/Tsugumi/Akane/Maka/Meme. Dammit, Ohkubo, just make them all date each other already! XD

DAMMIT. I WAS PROVED WRONG ABOUT TIRESIUS BEING THE THIRD GORGON. I thought for sure the connection was people cursed by Athena. :(

I mean, in a series with canon genderbending, Tiresias would make so much sense! He was cursed by Athena, thus giving a connection to the others, and then the curse by Hera which made him a woman. *Flails* SO MUCH FOR MYTHOLOGY NERDING.

Honestly I think that none of the romance in this series is going to actually go anywhere, but it sure is fun watching all of the potential pairings forming!

But on the other hand, I think that a large part of the fandom has been predicting for a while that the third Gorgon sister would be scorpion-themed because snake+spider+scorpion are the most common triad of venomous animals in a bunch of cultures across the world.

This, too. There's an awful lot of backstory there that Ohkubo just completely skipped over, so yeah, I'm glad that Not! is going to step in to fill some of the gaps there, too.

I've read all of the comments made here so I 'll be reacting to them in addition to my reaction to your article.
Just like everybody I hope that Shaula will be well developped, I mean, Medusa was a straight forward type of bad guy and Arachne was the manipulator kind, she almost never did anything herself ; so I really wonder what type is their sister. Plus I loved them (yeah i'm disgusted about chapter 87)

I also really like the little developpment we've had on Akane who, since the third chapter (not to say the first) looked like he and clay would be important. Just waiting for the Clay development -they seem to have known each other for quite some time...I just wonder what was the real reason for being broke in the third chapter... His only relationship with the star clan is that their martial art comes from Akane's dojo...but I would like to see him meet black star... Plus Somehow Akane make me think of Soul, Kid and Black Star at the same time...

For the last one, I think it would be very interesting to see him and Tsugumi Together (as weapon and meister...although they would be cute together, if it has to happen it sure won't be now).
I don't see all those Yuri, bisexual or straight moments you all see... In chapter three, Tsugumi envies Anya's legs, its never mentioned that she has any attraction toward her, the same goes for Meme... and for the begining of the chapter, she's not fazed about Meme coming into her bed because it seems to be an habit of her to do so (she says it herself), Meme seems to be sleepwalking. I myself have been sleeping with some of my friends, sometimes going through the whole room to sllep with them withoyt it having any meaning so i don't get it -_-.
anyway for those who think it would be awful of him to abandon clay, their class os fpr them to chose a partner, which means try weapons/meister to find the one who correspond the best... Plus if you think about it, it looks like spirit, Stein and Kami's story : first Stein and Spirit, Then Spirit and Kami (...who end up marrying, but lets forget that part, we're not far enough in the story).

And that reason is titillation. Of course the same thing might not have any meaning in real life. Your real life is a series of random circumstances; Tsugumi's life is a story being crafted by an omnipotent god-author and every detail that he chooses to show us about her life is chosen for a specific purpose and to get a specific reaction from the audience.

Ohkubo never changed anybody's name. He never gave Maka's mom a name in the first place.

In the manga Spirit only refers to Maka's mom as "my ex-wife," which in Japanese is written as "motokami-san." Apparently some scanslators mistranslated that as Spirit saying somebody's name.

That's quite reasonable...though there are often stories were these kind of things are made just as a recurring joke and has no meaning...not only in real life (I should have given an example out of a manga instead of my life).

Still, though, I am disappointed that we don't have Tiresias around. Shaula isn't even greek, and the only mention of a scorpion that I can recall in greek mythology is the one that killed Orion. Orion himself appeared to have no connection to Athena, and the only common thing between Arachne and Medusa in mythology is their connection to Athena! :(

This is what happens when you happen to enjoy mythology too much...

Maybe it's further a sign of the whole youngest-sister-with-a-complex? Maybe their mother gave Arachne and Medusa proper mythological names connecting to Athena and then was like "Ah crap, I only wanted two daughters. Whatever, I'll google scorpions and use the first girl-sounding name I can find!"
