I don't know if you're the only one *not* bothered by the ellipses. It bothers me massively, though, probably because I'm an English teacher.

(And I realize that Ohkubo is writing in Japanese and not in English, but still. Both languages have stylistic rules regarding the use and over-use of ellipses, and Ohkubo is definitely breaking the Acceptable Ellipses Use Barrier for Japanese Dialogue.)
