Indian TV Strike

Am I a bad person for being relieved to hear about the Indian TV strike, because this means that I'll finally have a chance to catch up with all the current episodes of KMHK?

...Yes. Yes, I am.

Man, I thought that keeping up with a one-episode-per-week anime series was hard. Now I'm trying to keep up with a four-episode-per-week series done in a language which I happen to suck at understanding. Thank God for [livejournal.com profile] goldenflames's livejournal summaries. Not only because I need them to understand what crazy shizbit Ekta is pulling this week, but also because they are awesome.

You know, my mom was complaining about how no one has uploaded episodes of some Indian soaps on Youtube and the like yet. Looks like I found the culprit.

I'm very, very behind Ekta's Mahabharata adaption, but I don't feel so bad. And for some reason, Ekta kinda makes me think of recent-day CLAMP.

OMG. You're RIGHT. It makes perfect sense:

1. The terrible pacing.
2. The ridiculous creator-fangirling over certain characters at the expense of others.
3. The long, drawn-out scenes in which people just stand around and talk to each other... in the most over-the-top, dramatic fashion possible.
4. The ridiculously overdramatic reaction shots.
5. The excessive pretty magical special effects that are there for no reason other than to have excessive pretty magical special effects.
6. All of the pointless-but-cute d'awwwwww moments given to certain characters, solely for the purpose of making their eventual, inevitable DOOM that much more heartwrenching.

Glad to be of service!

I'm really hoping that this strike resolves itself sometime soon. I don't think I'll be able to last for more than a week or two without more brooding Bhima and adorable Arjuna.

Have you seen the episode where Arjuna and Bhima are talking to Bhishma about Krishna and the Yadavas moving to Dwaraka?

Perfect example of number 3...

I think the entire Mahabharata is pretty much a d'awwwww moment for Karna.
