Why was I not aware of this until now?

It took some exploring to find them in my local Wal-Mart, but I finally found a few boxes of them lurking at the bottom of the "specialty" candy display that they had in the back of the store near the discount bakery items.
It's been years since I had the Bassett's brand candies and I can't say for certain whether the Wal-Mart brand tastes anywhere near the same, but nevertheless, the Wal-Mart brand candies are pretty darn good.
I have no particular nostalgic attachment to licorice allsorts or anything, since I only discovered them as an adult shopping at the yuppie Whole Foods near where I used to live in St. Paul, but I still think they're pretty awesome and I'm happy to see that they're now available in a major discount chain store.
