Mini-rant about image boards.
Jan. 2nd, 2007 09:11 pmHere's why I don't like image boards. People just upload fanart without any mention of who the artist is, upload magazine scans without any mention of what the magazine is, upload all sorts of stuff without any sort of identifying clues. Also, wallpapers ripped from animepaper.net and MiniTokyo without any credit. And creepy threads dealing with rape fantasies targeting Haruhi. And more. Don't get me started.
For example, what the hell is this? From the low res I can't tell if it's official artwork, or very, very good fanart. If it's official, where is it from, where can I buy it? If it's fanart, who is responsible for this lovely piece of work, do they have a website, where can I find more?!
ETA: Also this. 'Tis clearly a phone card. Would seem to match the angel!Yuki in the comments of the previously linked thread. Hmmm, wonder if there's a Mikuru?
And I'm sad that I don't know who to credit for this bit of comic genius.
I guess an OCD hyper-organized person like me just can't get behind the free-for-all chaos of an image board. I hate not being able to search for or identify specific images. And I hate the fanboy culture and the Haruhi-rape fantasies, but that's another issue. Well, it's a good reason why I stay out of 4chan and its related ilk, anyway.
ETA: Mysteries have been solved. Yay.
....
In other news, it's been pretty much without-a-doubt confirmed that the Shakugan no Shana movie is going to be a retelling of novel #1 (AKA the first few episodes of the anime series). Zuh? I'm still scratching my head as to why... I mean, the first novel has already been animated once, thank you very much. Why not tap the original novels for story material that hasn't been animated yet? There's a LOT, much of which would make a very good 90-minute movie. Why not write an original story? Hello? I am confuzzled.
