This week's Tsubasa - Chapter 193

The chapter opens five days after Syaoran's arrival in Clow Country. He has two days left. We see Syaoran, Touya, and Yukito visiting the town. Syaoran meets the apple-seller's son. Yukito informs Syaoran that the upcoming "festival" is actually Sakura-hime's seventh birthday, and Syaoran is like, "Oh really?! I didn't know that!"

Syaoran in the past is apparently as dumb as Syaoran in the present. For crying out loud, Syaoran, can't you put two and two together?!

At least the clone was smarter than the original. I mean, the clone was a plucky boy detective who loved history, books, and obscure nerdy pursuits. This Syaoran, by contrast, seems as dumb as bricks.

Anyway, dumb!Syaoran observes that Clow Country is a very peaceful place, and that everyone is always very happy.

At night, Syaoran stays up late, lurking around the castle, as he is wont to do. Sakura finds him. Sakura is soaking wet, as apparently she came straight from her "purification" to see Syaoran, without stopping to dry off or change her clothes first. Two thoughts immediately spring to mind:

1. LOL wet t-shirt.
2. How exactly does Sakura manage to get soaked from head to toe in these rituals? She was similarly soaked when Syaoran first met her five days ago. Yet it seems, from what CLAMP has shown of the purification ritual so far, that said ritual consists entirely of Sakura standing in ankle-deep water and praying all day. So how, then, does she manage to get so wet?!

Sakura invites Syaoran to stargaze with her on the following night (which will be his last night in Clow Country, for those of you keeping track). Sakura says that on top of the castle, there's a perfect place to watch the stars. Syaoran accepts her invitation.

Cut to Yuuko. (This is flashback!Yuuko, not present!Yuuko.) She's wandering around her store, and looks at the two Mokonas, who in the past, are still asleep beneath their glass domes. "This store, these two creatures, everything... Everything was created for the sake of what will happen in two days."

Back to Clow Country. On the morning of the sixth day, Syaoran is talking to Nadeshiko. Nadeshiko says that although she can see the future in her dreams, that's absolutely not the same as knowing everything that will happen. "And that's exactly the reason why I can still hope for a joyful future," she says. Oh that's not foreboding at all.

Syaoran is surprised to hear this. "My mother said the exact same thing."

"Is that so." Nadeshiko smiles at him. "I'd really like to meet your mother someday."

...I cannot even make the obvious joke about that line.

The chapter ends on the night of the sixth day, with Sakura and Syaoran sneaking out to the castle roof to watch the stars. Syaoran is amazed by the sight. "Wow!! They're beautiful!"

Sakura turns on the cute-faucet. "I'm glad you think so... Uh?" Her eyes suddenly go wide and blank. "I hear..." Then she starts to float off the roof. Oh, SHIT.

The chapter ends.

Well, FFS, finally something happened, even though it didn't really start until the very last page of the chapter.

Next week: Hey kids! Inevitable horrific disaster!!!
