This week's Tsubasa - Chapter 192
As promised, this chapter opens with three color pages. Yay!
Unfortunately, we were also promised a "double-length" chapter at the end of CLAMP's hiatus, and this chapter was more like half the length of a normal chapter. Oops.
Okay, so this is going to be a rush summary. I read the chapter during the five minutes that I spent eating breakfast this morning, and I'm going from memory now, so some parts are going to be not so much with the details.
But anyway, after a five-week wait, absolutely nothing happened.
The chapter opens with a flashback-within-a-flashback. Groan. Chibi!Syaoran is dreaming, and remembering a scene with his father. OH MY GOD IT'S ADULT!CCS!SYAORAN except that we never exactly see his face, we only see him drawn from the chin down. Anyway, adult!Syaoran tells chibi!Syaoran that his mother saw the person who is "waiting for him" in a dream, but that said destined person is in another dimension. Oops. Chibi!Syaoran vows to go find his destined person anyway. Adult!Syaoran gives chibi!Syaoran his sword, and tells his son to "take my sword and my name." Chibi!Syaoran asks if there will be a time when he will have to use the sword. It seems like adult!Syaoran is about to answer this question. But suddenly chibi!Syaoran wakes up from his dream. Oops. He can't remember what his father said next. Uh-oh.
Syaoran goes piddling around the castle in Clow Country. Touya shows up and tries to give him a hard time. Then Sakura intervenes and verbally bitch-smacks Touya until he shuts up. Go Sakura!
Touya is officially knocked down like five pegs - and by his seven-year-old little sister, no less.
Sakura, of course, immediately celebrates by jumping up and down and screaming, "I won! I won!" LOL.
Syaoran thanks Sakura, but vows that in return, next time, he will be the one to protect her from bullying.
The two of them pinky-swear that when Sakura's ritual cleansing of over, they will run together with their hands linked. Because EVERY MANGA EVER WRITTEN that features a FLASHBACK TO THE OTP'S CHILDHOOD must, by law, feature a pinky-swear promise at some point.
I'm not kidding. This is actually Article Twelve of the Japanese Constitution. Pinky-swears are mandated by Constitutional law.
Anyway, the last page of the chapter suddenly cuts to Yuuko, who is looking fabulous in what is seriously the most amazing outfit she's worn yet. And of course she's staring off into space and spouting some vague foreshadowy babbley-gook about "two futures." Beside her, seven-year-old Watanuki peeks out of his own flashback sequence. Specifically, Yuuko says that the choice that Syaoran makes on the seventh day will determine both his future and the future of "the other." "The other" being Watanuki, apparently.
The chapter ends.
So, CLAMP. Are we finally going to find out the truth about Watanuki?! For reals? Because you've cockteased us about this before, and frankly, I'm not getting my hopes up anymore.
