CDJapan.co.jp offers a subscription service that is significantly cheaper than buying individual issues:
However, the shipping is also a lot slower than you'll get from Amazon.co.jp.
If you order from Amazon, the only real way to lessen the ouch of the shipping cost is to
buy more stuff
to fit into that $40 box so that you can get your money's worth. In addition to buying
every month, I also buy five or six other books both for my classroom and for my personal library. I would be buying these books anyway, so if I get all of them plus my
issue shipped at the same time, it all fits into one box and I only have to pay for shipping once. If you're only buying one thing (i.e. an issue of
), then the $40 shipping cost isn't worth it. If you're buying six or seven books, however, that $40 shipping cost suddenly starts to look a lot more reasonable. It would cost exponentially more for me to buy all those books individually and ship them individually, so I'm really wrangling a shipping bargain out of the deal when I buy them all together.
